Fordham vs. Eight Ash Green – Fordham win by 4
runs.
Fordham and Eight Ash Green met for the first time to contest the “Eight Ashes”
on a beautiful sunny day at Eight Ash Green CC. Fordham won the toss and elected
to bat managing 110 off 12 overs, John Parker leading the way with 20 as well as
Jed McGuinness with an electrifying 18 not out, including a 4 off the last ball
of the innings. That 4 was to prove decisive.
With three double-figure scores
from Matt, Jack and Dave, Eight Ash Green hunted down that total and needed 13
off the last over with Steve Youngman looking threatening at the crease. They
came up just 4 runs short in a game which left supporters on the edge of their
seats right until the end!”
