Chairman Scores Runs Shock!

19 Aug 2013

Chairman Tom lead the way with a superb 112 not out as the Sunday 1st XI successfully chased down 244 to beat Bocking at a sunny Fordham Heath.

Winning the toss Bocking elected to bat first in what was good batting conditions, the Green bowling was less than perfect as aggressive batting from May, Jones and Watts saw Bocking to a challenging total of 244-8. Richard taking 3 wickets and Tom A and Jack took 2 each.

Stephen and Jack got the Green off to a flying start but the momentum was checked  when Jack was dismissed trying to cut the spinner Glaughan, Richard didn't last long while Alex was looking in good form until he was given out lbw. Stephen was batting well and looked in no trouble against the all spin attack so it was a bit of a surprise when he was out caught for 43. However Tom L was the star of the Green's run chase, walking to the crease with the situation not particularly good at 80-4, he proceeded to take the Bocking bowling apart striking 17 fours and 1 six. Tom and a hobbling Marsy shared a stand of 128 before Marsy was forced to retire, but Tom saw the Green home with 5 overs to spare despite the late loss of a pair of Chambers to secure an excellent win against the third place team in the league.

In time honoured fashion, the beers were on Tom!
