Nathan Cycling 600 miles in 6 days for children's nurses

28 Jul 2013

Dear Fellow Green Philanthropists,

Having kept score for all of twenty overs at Great Bromley yesterday, I was delighted when Kevin Smith, leading by example, thrust a purple note into my hand and said, "That's for the children's nurses - good luck mate!"  He had heard about my challenge, along with twelve others from Colchester, to cycle from the town to Arnhem, Liege, Brussels and back in time for lunch next Saturday.  Many others have already been incredibly generous and I am almost up to my personal target of £1000.  Altogether we hope to raise over £15000 for the children's community nursing team in Colchester who look after unwell children and their families at home, preventing long stays in hospital and unnecessary visits to clinics and surgeries.  Kev's £20 will go towards a new, quieter suction machine or similar piece of equipment that is not deemed an absolute necessity by the NHS, but which will really benefit the lives of sick children in our community.

We leave tomorrow at 9.30am from Costa, Tollgate and return to The Alma in Copford next Saturday, 12.30ish.  Give us a toot if you see us en route and if you would like to support this very worthy, local cause, please visit:

U16s watch this space for news of lads v dads and presentation evening.

Here's hoping that the great Green spirit will push me through the £1000 barrier.  Many thanks.
