In a highly controversial move Essex CCCs Head Coach Paul Grayson has made a surprise move to sign  EAG CC 1st XI keeper and Director of Senior Cricket, Kevin Smith. The unsolicited approach was made during an Under 14s game at The Green last night when Grayson spoke to the current Bar Manager PJ. PJ said in an interview "I was just cracking open the fourth bottle of Rose for Mrs L when Grayson asked to speak to me about Kevin. He reckons Essex were impressed by a Facebook entry detailing his five catches last week." He went on "Apparently they see Kevin as a long term replacement for current gloveman James Foster who is at least two years older than KS. Grayson admitted that Foster was probably a little better with the bat at the moment but that there was no doubt Kev has a big edge with the gloves. Its a sad day but The Greens loss is definitely Essex`s gain". Grayson refused to answer our calls today but watch this space for further developments.
