Pirates Set Sail

29 Apr 2013

Porky’s Pirates set sail on its maiden voyage with a crew strong in arm and stout in heart (get on with it, Ed).

Top brass won the toss and decided to bat and the team was ably led by Matt Murray for the day. Smith and Firmin saw off the top order but it was cadets Charlie Lovejoy and Murray who bagged the middle order with three wickets each. Stubbings rode his luck for Elmstead to give the home team 166 runs.

The Pirates started strongly and runs came fast on a hard outfield. Brinded and Marston got in and then got out but Richard Nunn held the innings together with a mature and unbeaten 69 to win the game and the inaugural Pirate of the Week.
