Preparations for increasingly extreme weather in both the long and short terms were underway at The Green today.

Colin Gwynn from J S Wright (the world's oldest and largest supplier of cricket bat willow) is helping us explore planting willow trees around the west border to provide natural drainage and ultimately willow for cricket bats. 

Groundsman Mick Purser was supervising verti-draining to improve drainage and reduce the risk of last spring’s flooding.  

Unfortunately for Mick it meant the outfield has never looked so good and he has been requested he maintain it to this level indefinitely 😂
