It is with great sadness that our club learned of the passing of Robin Cant, better known as Boo. Boo was involved in Eight Ash Green CC for over sixty years, helping Rex Beard put the original seats made from railway sleepers around the ground in 1963.
Boo played throughout the seventies, eighties and nineties. His contribution off the field was immense and as ‘Boo The Builder’ he oversaw the completion of our first extension in 1987 and second in 2002. He was responsible for all clubhouse maintenance and repairs for decades, at little or no cost to the club.
Boo was one of a decreasing band of people – a character. He always has a unique and forthright opinion on things, in a very distinctive accent. For many years he had his hair cut just once a year on the morning of the FA Cup final.
Boo was made a Life Member in 1990 in recognition of his contribution to our club. His funeral will be at Eight Ash Green church at 2pm on Wednesday 31st July followed by the wake at the cricket club pavilion.
Our condolences go out to his family. He will be much missed.
