The 2023 season has finally begun. The Heath was still not fit for the 1st XI game but the 2nds were in action at Ipswich. Batting first on a slow pitch, the Green did well to reach 156, largely due to Joe Young’s 66 and Rob Lewis’ 25. Ipswich were soon in in trouble at 27-3 but eventually reached their target with five wickets and five overs to spare. Special mentions for keeper Rob Lewis (three catches) and Jon Purser (three wickets in his first game as captain). Joe won the Colchester Brewery player of the match award.
