EAG GreenPiece – Cricket the Winner, Wicket Keeping Masterclass, Women’s Softball and Cricket Week!

24 Jun 2021

Cricket the winner

It was great to squeeze in two games between the rain last weekend, just a shame about the outcomes.  Whilst the seconds were well short away at Copford despite a half century from Tony Lee (pictured) whilst the firsts lost a last ball thriller at home against Mildenhall.  Read the report from David Stovell here.

Plenty of Youth Cricket this week, and on Friday the Ladies take on Sudbury at home.  There’s just one game on the Saturday with the 1sts at home to Coggeshall and another home game vs. Gt Totham on the Sunday.   Good luck to all teams.

Wicket keeping masterclass, Saturday 26 June @ youth training

From 9 am this Saturday 26 June we will be joined by Joe Young, EAG 1st XI wicket keeper, to run a unique session on wicket keeping. This will last for one hour and is aimed at all current club wicket keepers and those potential keepers. Suitable for all ages, please take advantage of this excellent opportunity.

Women’s softball cricket festival & coaching

EAG will be running a series of four coaching and fun matches for women starting on Tuesday 13 July. The first session will be a softball cricket festival featuring fast, fun play and some suitably fizzy drinks (soft equivalent also available). This is an amazing opportunity to try cricket for the first time or to develop your current skills. Softball cricket is played with a rubber ball and no pads or helmets are required. All equipment is supplied and this is FREE to attend for any women aged 13 and over.  The sessions are as follows –

  • Tuesday 13 July – Softball festival / 6.00 pm to 8.30 pm
  • Tuesday 20 July – Training session to help skills development / 6pm to 7.30pm
  • Tuesday 27 July – Training session to help skills development / 6pm to 7.30pm
  • Tuesday 3 August - Softball festival / 6.00 pm to 8.30 pm

Please email Sam on samandloz@btinternet.com to participate so we can cater for numbers.

Cricket week update

The Green has a mini-cricket week next week with two important games.  On Thursday 1 July we take on Suffolk Over 50s and on Friday 2 July host the launch of the Carbon Centurions - an exciting project to help 100 clubs become carbon balanced in just 100 days!
