GREENPIECE: Promotion Push, Cricket Week, Fake News and More

23 Jul 2019

Ist XI vs EASTON THIS SATURDAY.  The 1st XI have a must-win game at home this Saturday against Easton.  Easton won the last encounter with just a few balls to spare ( brill DS match report here!) and The Green will be VERY keen to exact revenge. Game starts 1pm; tea approx 4pm.  Support on the boundary will be much appreciated and will be rewarded with beers and barbie courtesy of El Pres.

Promotion Push.  After a slow start to the season both Saturday XIs have remained unbeaten since the end of June and are now in promotion contention in very even leagues.  The 1sts are second in Div 4 keeping the pressure on leaders Tuddenham who slipped up last week against Wivenhoe.  The 2nds have a tougher task with only one team promoted from Div 9 but it is all to play for.

Social Media Update.   Apologies for lack of posts to Facebook recently.  This is due to the site clamping down on 'fake news' automatically posted from web sites such as ours.  We're working on it.

Senior Training.   Senior training is going well with Head Coach Alex.  The programme continues this Thursday 6.30 to 8.00.  See you there.

Village Music Festival.  The Green played its part in the Annual Eight Ash Green Village Music Festival by hosting the 'Open Mike' stage where anyone can come along and play to an appreciative audience.  The pavilion also provided the backdrop for a classic car festival.  See pics on web here.

Two Counties Game  THURSDAY 1 AUGUST.  More old-crocks on display next week at the EAG mini-cricket week starting on Thursday 1 August with our annual game against Two Counties Over 50s.  This is is the game we invite all ex-players, VPs and Life Members to attend – with wallets please!

Rayleigh Tour Game   FRIDAY 2 AUGUST.   What better way to start your weekend than Friday barbie and beers at The Green?  Bar opens at lunchtime ...
