Back by populist request, your weekly Wednesday update of events at EAGCC …
BBC Essex TONIGHT. The Green’s own mellifluous Sam C. appears TONIGHT at 8pm on the popular BBC Essex programme ‘Your Essex’. Not sure where this is on the Local Radio dial but somewhere between Radio Caroline and Hancock’s Half Hour probably. Tune in, and give Sam your support. .
PieRates 20-20 TONIGHT. Most of our evening league opposition are limited over specialists i.e. limited ability and over the hill. Nothing like our young, talented PieRates then, who take the field tonight for a home game against the Garrison Brigade. Game starts at 6pm, bar open and pies for all.
NECL Vote TONIGHT. Youth combo Troy Collin and Ollie Crafford have been nominated for Performance at the Week on the NECL web site. They’re currently winning (and rightly so) so to make sure they stay ahead of the pack, go to https://www.necl.co.uk/ and vote NOW! You only have 48 hours left.
Kwik Cricket Festival THIS FRIDAY. The EAG KC Festival happens this Friday and we’re expecting over 200 players so will need a LOT of help everywhere. If you can come up, then please do. For further info contact Youth Supremo Sam Collins. Weather forecast not great so watch for cancellation alerts on Friday morning on all digital media.
Quiz Night THIS SATURDAY. The annual humiliation of Oli Firmin takes place this Saturday at 7.30pm. Forget History and Geography (if you haven’t already) as rounds at The Green include Beer, The Simpsons and Famous Pies. Teams of six max (half fingers, two thumbs, Oli), £3 per person, free nibbles.
Player Profile JAMES CRAFFORD. Our Sunday XI are revitalised with the election of Ollie Stovell as skipper and the return of James ‘Craff’ Crafford with son Ollie. Hard to believe now, but a svelte Craff was a key part of the 1st XI that got to TC Div 3 in the 90s. Top tip for teammates: Get your interval tea FAST.
Cheers Ed.
