Sorry for the delay in your weekly GreenPiece however we were awaiting Wednesday's result more below:
Saturday 1's take 20
The firsts make the long trip to Yoxford worthwhile coming away with 20 points, a 55 not out & a 5 wicket haul! The Green won the toss against bottom of the table Yoxford and put them into bat on a green moist wicket, Matt Parker picking up a wicket in the first over 1 of 5 for the young man. Mark Goodall taking 3 and Sam Pace & Jake Harris bowling well to take a wicket each. Chasing 120 (100 without extras) after bowling them all out in 33.2 overs. The chase was slow and steady, cautious batting needed after last week’s collapse, a solid 55* for captain Keith Hammond supported by Stephen Nunn 19 off 50 balls. 20 points sees us joint top with Stowmarket! We play Kelvedon this Saturday and your support is needed!
Sunday 1's Rained Off
After bowling Mistley all out on Sunday for a chase able 250 the heavens began to open and although having covers the pitch was deemed too dangerous to play on. Bowling credits must go to Troy Collins for his 4for (forgetting the dropped c&b that would've got him a 5for). The last game before a large break on Sunday versus 2nd place Elmstead to look forward to now!
PIErates hosting Wednesday Semi Final!
After a successful campaign in the Colchester Evening League we have made it to the Semi Final where we play locals West Bergholt! 2 50's last night by Ollie Stovell 53 off 51 & Jona'tron' Purser 52 off 26 (6x6's!) Let's not forgot another jug avoidance as Joe Young on 4 wickets gets a dolly hit back at him off his own bowling then decides to drop it... Criminal! It would be great to see lots of people cheering the PIErates on next Wednesday and enjoying some big hitting and cracking catches!
Youth of Today!
Our U15’s shared the spoils with Brightlingsea winning by 79 runs away from home (T Collins 55 not out, Tom Lee 40, both took 3 wickets as well) and then losing by a similar margin at home.
The U13’s lost a tight game with Kelvedon and our U11’s lost to strong Boxted and Abberton teams.
EAG Kwik Cricket teams dominated at Copford with our beginner’s team winning all 3 games and our intermediates winning 2 out of 3. Great stuff!
We’re holding our final training session this Saturday 22nd from 9-11 am with our own internal Kwik Cricket Festival for ALL youth players, parents and any adult cricketers who wish to take on our brilliant youth teams – bring it on!
