Many congrats to 1st XI skipper Keith Henry and wife Elspeth on the safe arrival of Isla Rosalind Hammond at 4:50 on Monday morning.
Pitch looked GREAT last Saturday. Big thanks to new groundsman Craig and his team plus Grounds Supremo Mick Purser for their hard work !
The Green is indebted to wife Caroline who kindly let husband Alastair Woodcock out for a rare appearance this Saturday. He celebrated by picking up the Colchester Brewery Man of the Match award for a six wicket haul against Coggeshall. Pictured handing Woody his award is fellow club legend Colin Hammond. Colin's side profile quietly confirms he has long since retired but with four Hammonds playing in the game, the dynasty survives.
Great pic from Mick Purser capturing the mood at the Youth 'World Cup' and awards morning before England's monumental World Cup victory.
There wasn't much doubting the Colchester Brewery Man of the Match this Saturday as Jamie Murray (literally) smashed an unbeaten 117 to beat promotion rivals Nacton with 10 overs to spare. Jamie is pictured with The League's Best Scorer - David Stovell. Unfortunately El Presidente forgot to bring the Colchester Brewery beer so Jamie had to make do with a distinctly inferior substitute.
There was a real 'Simpsons* Sky' at Nacton for the crunch promotion game this Saturday. * Cartoon programme on the Television, Tim.
Thanks to all those who helped make Eight Ash Green Music Festival another success.
The Green played its part in the Annual Eight Ash Green Village Music Festival by hosting the 'Open Mike' stage where anyone can come along and play to an appreciative audience. Many thanks to all who helped organise, perform and support this great day.
Another great pic from Official Club Photographer Mick 'Long Lens' Purser at the Classic Car Rally at The Green.
An unbeaten 108 from Stuart Hammond (right) guided EAGCC 1st XI to their 9th win in 10 games at Halstead on Saturday. It was a performance that not only won him the Colchester Brewery Man of the Match but also put The Green at the top of Div 4 for the first time this season.
James Plummer confirmed his emergence from the EAG Youth Academy with an excellent 38 not out to help end West Bergholt’s unbeaten record with an 8 wicket win on Saturday. James was deservedly Colchester Brewery Man of the Match and receives his Metropolis from El Presidenté who clearly needs to get some club kit for Christmas.
A spritely gentleman dropped into the club last week and said he thought he was on a team picture. He was indeed and RAY FULCHER (for it was he) is pictured on the 1961 team picture. A rare coincidence as John Stonehouse also dropped in recently, and this was the last year he bought a round.
James 'Porky' Parker recorded the highest score of the season when he smashes 167 in 32 overs to help the EAG 2s to a comfortable win against Chappel & Wakes Colne. James is pictured (right) receiving his Colchester Brewery Metropolis from club legend Bevin Guthrie.
Letter of thanks from EAG Friendship Club who The Green entertain every year.
EAG Friendship Club at The Green. The Green played Essex Police Vets who were slightly more athletic. But only just .
EAG Friendship Club (motto: 'We'll treat you like gold, until you grow cold') at The Green.
EAG Friendship Club at The Green. Best wishes to the Police Vet who was allegedly hit in the face by an EAG batsman but in reality 'fell down the stairs'.
Matt Parker didn't let a dislocating shoulder impede progress when he snapped up 6 wickets with off-spin on Saturday. Matt (right) is pictured getting his MoM Metropolis from Youth Section Supremo Sam Collins who saw the 2s home with strong batting.
Jonathan Purser, popularly known as JP won the Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Colchester Brewery Man of the Match with a mature 40 that helped EAG 2s clinch victory at Earls Colne. JP (pictured left) receives his bottle of Metropolis from life member and club legend Keith Steel whose bowling figures of 10-1-24-1 helped secure the win.
Club legend Bevin Guthrie won the Colchester Brewery Man of the Match on Saturday with 5 wickets to help secure promotion with a 118 run victory over Witham 3s. Bev gets his bottle of Metropolis from BBC Essex's Sports Supremo Victoria Polley.
Here's the squad that topped Div 9 South with 10 consecutive victories in 2019.
Key to the 2s promotion was a brilliant combination of youth and experience. Here's the experienced bit: Keith Steel, El Presidenté, Bev Guthrie and Richard Polley.
