22 Jan 2012 : YOUTH TRAINING DATES ANNOUNCED

Indoor nets were a bit too long last year and have been shortened to
five weeks.  They will run from Sunday 18 March to Sunday 22 April (excluding Easter Sunday on 8 April).  We will have all 4 nets for 2 hours between 5pm and 7pm.  They will run at Holmwood House and exact times, reminders of kit, fees, etc. will be sent out nearer the time.

Outdoor training will run during May, June and July.  We hope to continue training at Holmwood House on Tuesday evenings (subject to their very kind permission) and Kwik Cricket on Friday evenings on The Heath.   Again, details to follow nearer the time.

Fixtures will be posted to the web site soon.  We will try to run teams at every age group again with the exception of U16s this year.  We will again need more players and adult help with the younger teams so let me know if you cab help.  Many thanks.

Richard Parker, Youth Chairman, EAGCC

23 Jul 2011 : U15s Review

Many thanks to all of your who played in a tough but enjoyable U15 season.  We lost a lot of players but full credit to Richard, Nathan, Matt, Leighton, Sam, Jake and Peter who stuck it out.  Well done too to Matt who joined us plus Elliott, Charlie, Ollie, Sam, Fergus and Jonathan who played up a year or two or even three!

My awards this year are ...

  • Best Bowler: Matt Pyatt for consistently tight bowling and an economy rate of only 4.03.
  • Best Batsman:  Richard Nunn for best technique and highest runs scored of 118.
  • Best Performance:  Nathan Scarff for match-winning 56 not out against Copford.
  • Best Player:  Leighton Oxley-Crisp for great keeping and consistently positive attitude.

Lambrini Moments went to ...

  • Richard Nunn for the side’s first ever six
  • Sam Pace for getting 9 wickets in just 19 overs
  • Elliott Cryne for catches and stubborn innings in Copford match
  • Jonathan Purser’s 30 against Kelvedon
  • Peter Bartholomew’s stunning catch against Kelvedon

Our bowling and fielding was as good as anyone else in the Premier League and with better batting and a bit more luck we would have won half our matches.  I hope you all have a good break and that some of you will play some senior cricket this summer.  You are certainly good enough.

Thanks again, Richard.
