12 Jan 2018 : Essex call up for youth
Essex call up for youth

In the run-up to Christmas, whilst most people were out buying presents, Essex were running their youth District trials and EAG CC were well represented at all levels.

We've been lucky enough to have a District representative selected at U15 level for the past three years and those players are now core to our adult teams. A real testament to our youth coaching.

The District squads have not been announced yet for this year - but Essex have selected their U11 Girls squad and Sophie Spicer, a key part of EAG CC kwik cricket team last year, has been called up to the Essex squad for 2018 - an incredible achievement!

Well done Sophie and good work EAG coaches!

02 Jan 2018 : Happy New Year from The Green!
Happy New Year from The Green!

I hope you had a peaceful Christmas and are ready for an exciting PLATINUM year at The Green!  Yes, it's our SEVENTIETH SEASON so look forward to a bumper summer of cricket and celebrations.

The champagne corks were popping already at the Hammond Household as skipper Keith Henry FINALLY popped the question to El  - his lovely and VERY patient partner of many years.  The reply was positive so the first great result of the season!

On a sadder note we said goodbye to Jim Mayes (above) who was not only a great friend of the club and regular umpire but father & father-in-law to Carol and Richard Polley respectively.  He passed away over Christmas and will be much missed.

Feliz Año Nuevo, El Presidenté
