Match report A much improved batting performance saw JP's 2nd XI reach a very respectable 213-2 against a good Earls Colne bowling attack. Tim C. and Nihal J. got us off to a solid start with an opening partnership of 69, and Nihal went on to reach his first 50 for the Green. After he was out, Jack A. and Felix F. batted fluently to put on an excellent partnership of 116 in quick time. Jack ended on 63 not out (and a average of 126.0 this season!) while Felix was unlucky to fall three short of a fine 50. Our lack of bowling depth was then cruelly exposed as Earls Colne raced to their target of 214 in 25 overs. The highlight was Ethan Sutcliffe's first wicket for the Green, for which he was named Player of the Match.

The early finish allowed some of us to go back to the Green to cheer on the 1st XI, who had started an hour later. To our surprise we discovered that the game was over there too. But that's another story ...
