Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Lost by 72 runs

Match report Well, that was a disappointment. Just as we were getting used to Sunday wins and barely a couple of weeks after an away win against the same opponents, Bergholt came to Fordham Heath and left with a resounding 72 run victory.
We had restricted our visitors to 175-8 from their 40 overs, with the wickets shared amongst three bowlers, two of whom, Bevin Guthrie and Ollie Licence returned identical figures of 2-32. Jens Wair grabbed a brace of his own (2-49) whilst Bevin effected one run out with the assistance of Neil Brinded, and Neil secured another one all thanks to his own quick reactions. Although 175 was a perfectly respectable total, there was no reason to think that we could not overcome it.
Sadly, we got nowhere near winning. Having lost two early wickets, JP & Ollie Stovell were building a platform when they fell in successive overs and we were soon 43-5. Bevin (29) and Jens set about showing their teammates how to do it but when they both perished the end was nigh; indeed we only just scraped a solitary batting point as ultimately Bergholt ran out comfortable and deserved winners.
