Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Won by 9 runs

Match report Cricket finally got under way at the Green on Saturday 18 July with an intra-club match played in high spirits and the excitement of a last-ball victory. It's good to be back.

Some things were different. We trooped off every six overs to clean our hands and the ball, the keeper-to bowler return seemed a bit odd at first, there were no high fives (and scuba dives) and we missed the lottery of lunch provided by one of our fellow players. And yet, so many things were just the same; RP started with a maiden over, Keith H looked sublime at the crease, Spicerack hitting straight sixes and Tony disagreeing with the umpire.

The match itself was a tight one. The Tony Lee led team batted first and scored 196-9 (net 151 after wicket deductions) off 36 overs. In reply, the Jonathan Purser led side took the match to the wire needing 4 off the last ball to win. Andrew Woodhouse took a good catch to seal the win for the Lee team.

This was an excellent warm up for the season and we get into (slightly more) competitive action next weekend

It's good to be back.
