Match report If ever the capricious nature of cricket needs to be evidenced, today's weather provided the opportunity.
The Green battled back from conceding 110 runs in the first 12 overs to restrict Mistley to 261, but almost as soon as the last wicket fell, so did the rain. Nevertheless, your scorer wondered whether we could replicate the batting effort from last week's valiant loss to Colchester only to actually secure the win this time. Sadly, we didn't get the chance to find out as despite bright sunlight bathing the ground, the dampness of the square delayed any prospect of an immediate restart and the decision was taken to abandon the match.
Regardless, there is still opportunity to comment on the bowling effort: to start with, more pies from Matt 'I hate cricket' Parker, whilst Jake Harris found his efforts carted to all corners of the picturesque Mistley ground. Luckily for Jake he had a second chance and picked up 3 cheap wickets to redeem his figures. Change bowlers Nunn the younger and Spice-rack also suffered some abuse from the batsmen so it was left to T-Roy and Muzza to show their colleagues how to do it, although T-Roy made dad Sam proud by missing a third caught & bowled in an expert display of jug avoidance.
Then came the rain and the sun and the abandonment and that was that for the day.
