Match report A solid all-round performance enabled EAGCC 1st XI to pick up maximum points in a comfortable win at Yoxford.
Our friendly hosts were so generous that, in effect, they were able to present Matt Parker with a man of the match award for his 5-for, despite the general consensus being that he produced a barely average bowling display (one of the openers helped himself to no fewer than 4 sixes from the Parker buffet), comparable with the guile shown by Ollie Stovell in a five wicket haul at Harwich last season. With Mark Goodall picking up 3 wickets, Yoxford would have been contained to under 100 but for a frustrating 32-run last wicket partnership.
In reply, Joe Young (7) & Ollie (quack, quack) were both out to balls that apparently hooped, while Alex Hammond (20) will probably want to forget the shot that cost him his wicket. Meanwhile, skipper Keith Hammond (55*) batted on serenely, supported by Stephen Nunn (19*), with Keith taking the Green to victory with a straight six that enabled him to reach his half century. That shot was the last of a 15-ball over that yielded 30 runs and some amusing, if drunken, banter from the home supporters (all 3 of them).
The TFC award of the day goes to Simon McLean and JP, although Ollie would have joined them but for a quite good, maybe even spectacular, catch on the boundary - one for the cameras I reckon.
