Match report You know things have not gone well when a trip to Burger King is the highlight of a day’s cricket. But so it was that youthful Pirates found themselves amongst the neon, chrome and grease well before 6pm after a character-building journey to St Margarets. This was a first time for the Green who blinked in disbelief at grounds which looked like a cross between a set from a Dirty Harry film and a documentary on the decline of industry in Thatcher’s eighties.

Jamie Murray lost the toss and were invited to bat by the St Margarets' skipper who resembled a fat Chris Moyles but without any of the ex-Radio 1 DJ’s charm or wit. The Pirates started well with Stephen Nunn and James Parker nudging things along nicely. Momentum was only interrupted by frequent expletives from Moylesy who, when requested to show some decorum by EAG skipper PJ, asked what aftershave had to do with it. Ollie Stovell and Jonathan Purser maintained the momentum but the tail definitely didn’t wag with the last seven batsmen only scoring 12 runs between them against very ordinary bowling.

Richard Nunn & Matt Parker bowled well but the total of 131 was comfortably reached by St Margarets in just over 20 overs. This cemented their position at the top of the table and welcome promotion to another league. PoW was PJ for a brilliant stop & throw. And for trying to rationalise with his opposite number who, by resembling a cross between Gary Bushell and an orang-utan, surely proves the early stages of the theory of evolution. High six anyone?
