Chappel & Wakes Colne v Eight Ash Green Cricket Club U12 on Wed 16 May 2012 at 18.00
Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Won By 3 Wickets

Match report A belated start to the season and SATS tests meant the U12s were bolstered by some Kwik Cricketers and U13s for the short trip to Chappel.

Skipper Max Williams won the toss and elected to field and whilst rusty to start with his team quickly got back into the swing of things. Everyone bowled tightly to restrict Chappel to 88 with Will Spicer and Teddy Bartlett showing that if you bowl straight you get wickets – two each with Teddy getting a wicket with his first ever ball for The Green.

Batting started slowly with Mark English, Max & Tom Woodnott going quickly. A solid innings from man-of-the-match Will Spicer and big hitting from Jed McGuiness saw The Green nearly to the finishing line. There were concerns that Sam Bowles had left too many balls as we entered the last over but he pushed a single to let Will Whitfield smash the winning runs with a four through the covers.

Thanks to the U13s for helping out and to James Plummer and Troy Collins for stepping up to U12 cricket. A great start but still lots to learn!
