West Bergholt v Eight Ash Green Cricket Club U11 on Sun 05 Jun 2011 at 10.00am
Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Lost by 3 runs

Match report Just one more boundary, one more wicket taken, or one less wicket lost is all that EAG U11s needed to defeat close friends and rivals at West Bergholt this morning.

The visitors lost the toss and were asked to field. They bowled well and fielded adequately well enough to limit West Bergholt to 80 positive runs. Edward inflicted some late damage with two wickets in two balls - BRILLIANT!

All pairs managed double figures when batting, a creditable achievement. Attention must be paid to the dark art of running between the wickets - a skill that develops with practice and a few handy hints. The last pair of George and Max, needed 17 to win from the last 4 overs but a couple of wickets seemed to take the game away from them. However, with a no-ball and four off the penultimate ball, the crowd were on their feet, willing George to hit the last ball out of Manor Park. Sadly, the bowler kept the length good and the eager EAG U11s lost by just 3 runs.

This was a good, close contest, from which all players can hopefully take something. Well done.
