Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Lost

Match report This was a much improved performance from the away fixture back in May. We won the toss and chose to bowl. This was a good decision as we took 6 wickets during their innings, through accurate bowling, tight fielding and taking the catch. This meant Abberton scored a total of 249- more than manageable. The pick of the bowling was William Whitfield bowling 3 overs for 5 runs and taking 2 wicket. Jono Matthews and Dom Purser also bowled very tightly. James Rolfe kept wicket well and was instrumental in the run outs. Unfortunately, we bowled too many extras giving away a total of 24 runs. Our batting had to be at its best against some very good bowling. The openers were given a hard time. James Rolfe and Jon Matthews put us back on track, followed by some steady batting by William Goodwin and Thomas Hackett. The final pair of Sam Clark and George Barron made for exciting end with some big hitting in an attempt to try to close the gap. Sam Clark's 18 without losing a wicket was the pick of the innings.
Overall, very pleased with our team work, play and our attitude. If we could just lose the numer of wides...............- that's what we'll work on.
