Eight Ash Green Cricket Club North Essex 1st XI (Sunday) v Earls Colne on Sun 26 Jul 2020 at 13.00
Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Won by 7 wickets

Match report The Sunday season under new skipper Duncan Wyatt got off to an excellent start as Duncan's young guns blew away Earls Colne to win by 7 wickets with a whopping 27.1 overs to spare.
It seemed to me that Duncan was too busy with all his duties to be as noisy as he usually is, but he can be very pleased with the way he led his team to such a resounding victory. Duncan had invited Earls Colne to bat first, but as their opening pair fought off the dual new-ball threat of Calum McDonald and T-Roy Collins, there was little sign of what was to follow. A run out created by sharp fielding from Will Spicer broke their initial resistance and opened the way for Ethan Wyatt (3-8) and Connor Murphy (3-9) to rip the heart out of our visitor's batting line-up. The two bowlers demonstrated the benefits of aiming for the stumps as five of their six victims were bowled; well done lads. Jens Wair and Will Spicer then claimed a wicket apiece, before James Plummer delighted his teammates in claiming the last man, well caught by a stooping T-Roy. In 29 overs Earls Colne had been skittled for just 78.
Our reply was led by Will Spicer who batted in typically elegant manner, puncturing the field with a number of on-drives, combined with a few belligerent blows straight back past the bowler. Indeed, a Spicer six just behind square on the leg-side was the perfect way to reach his own half century (in 35 balls) and win the match for the Green, all in a shade under 13 overs.
