Match report An overcast day and a fast outfield greeted our second XI as they travelled to West Mersea looking for a third consecutive victory. Stand-in Captain, Sam Collins won the toss and elected to field. The opening bowling combination of speedster Callum McDonald
and the guile of Jens Wair seemed to perplex and bamboozle the opposition. So much so that at drinks they had amassed just 48 runs. In their second 20 overs West Mersea tried to attack but were held in check by a seasons best fielding performance from EAG. Their score of 132-6 after 40 overs looked a little light. Matt Murray deserved his excellent figures of 3-20 but the outstanding bowling perfromance came from Jens Wair whose 12 overs yielded just 15 runs and numerous close calls.

What to say about the EAG reply? Well, Tim Chambers (49 not out) and Joe Young (69 not out) knocked off the required 132 in just 21 overs to secure a ten wicket victory. An excellent performance in all areas from the Green.
