Match report On the hottest day of the year, the Green headed to Witham hoping to continue their unbeaten start to the season. Bowling first in perfect batting conditions, the Green were soon put under considerable pressure by the Witham openers who put on an aggressive 62 for the first wicket. Needing inspiration, the Green found it from Mark Goodall who bowled a brilliant spell to remove both openers in quick succession. Wickets then fell at regular intervals with the Green bowling Witham out for an under par 171, Richard Polley taking 5-18.
The Greens reply got off to the worst possible start when 5th ball of the innings, Stephen Nunn, thinking he was Viv Richards was clean bowled attempting to flick one over midwicket. Jack Smith and Ollie Lovejoy, both continuing there fine form, got the innings moving putting on 40 for the second wicket before Ollie was caught at mid-on for 21.That however brought the wall that is Richard to the crease as he and Jack put on a match winning partnership of 85 both dispatching the bowling all-round the wicket. Richard fell for 42 leaving Jack (72) and Ollie Firmin (29) to ease the Green home with 7 wickets to spare.
