Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Lost By 42 runs

Match report Porky’s Pirates stuck to their Fun – Skills – Winning mantra on Sunday and as philosopher Meatloaf once said ‘Two out of three ain’t bad’. Having been skittled out for 30 odd a few weeks ago, they not only stood up to Clacton but pushed them all the way to nearly record an unlikely victory.

Clacton looked strong and were asked to bat. Bowling, fielding and particularly catching were excellent yet again with young Jamie Murray taking two crackers. James Parker and young Dom Purser were the pick of the bowlers with a fantastic spell to pin down the middle order. Clacton were all out for 191 - the first time they’d been bowled out all season.

The Pirates struggled early on against accurate fast bowling from Dobson and Surrall but fought back spectacularly through Matt Parker (43, 8 fours) and Dom Purser again (39). Clacton were clearly worried but ran out eventual winners by 42 runs.

Pirate of Week was Dom Purser by a mile. Congrats to Steve Goodridge who came out of semi-retirement to grace the green with his eclectic talents. Thanks too to Clacton who despite often getting bad press stayed for a beer or two unlike most of our opposition.
