Braintree College Reserves v Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Redundant4 on Sun 14 Oct 2012 at 4pm
Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Won By 2 Wickets
Match report
The Green made a successful debut in the Braintree Indoor League, beating Braintree College Reserves by 2 wickets.
Bowling first the team consisting of Kevin, James, Tony, Richard, Charlie and a guest appearance from Will Shearman, kept it tight in the "field",Braintree found it difficult to score 4s & 6s and were restricted to scoring off the side walls only. Tony took 3 wickets while Richard,Charlie and Will took one each. Kevin had a good game behind the stumps, keeping tidily and taking a catch and a stumping. Braintree were eventually bowled out for 73 in the 11th over.
The Green innings got off to a flying start with James driving two fours past the bowler but was out in the first over when he was caught off the sidewall, when Will was caught behind in the second over, the target of 74 was looking a long way away. However Skipper Kevin walked to the crease and played an outstanding innings, a couple of aggressive 6's mixed in with two driven 4's quickly saw him reach retirement. Richard and Tony both made useful contributions with the bat but both were out in quick succession leaving Kevin to return to join Charlie to see the Green home with 3 overs to spare.
