Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Two Counties 2nd XI (Saturday) v Boxted II on Sun 12 Sep 2010 at 12:30!!!!!
Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Lost By 4 Wickets
Match report
The 2nd XI went down to Boxted by 4 wickets in a low scoring match at the Heath.
Batting first the Green were soon in trouble on a slow wicket that had variable bounce against a lively opening spell by Boxted's Moncrieffe. As was the case the day before, the top five were all dismissed for single figure scores. As the wicket dried and Moncrieffe completed his spell Nathan, Neil and Jack mounted something of a recovery and managed to get the score to 109, but the Green were bowled out in only the 32nd over, leaving Mrs Hammond to rush to get tea ready.
After Tea with conditions better than they were at 12.30, Boxted had 58 overs to make 110 runs and they went about their task as though they intended to use every one of those overs. It was not the most exciting cricket to watch, Stephen removed one of the openers early to briefly raise hopes of a possible victory, but Boxted crawled to their target in the 38th over. Paul picked up 2 wickets, one an excellent catch off his own bowling and Jens and Colin took one each but 109 was not a big enough total to defend despite some good bowling.
