Stebbing v Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Two Counties 2nd XI (Saturday) on Sun 16 May 2010 at
Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Lost By 9 Wickets
Match report
The 2nd XI completed a disappointing weekend for the Green when they were well beaten by nine wickets at a very picturesque Stebbing.
The Green batted first and were faced by two very good opening bowlers who were gaining significant movement in the grey overcast conditions. Run making was difficult and the Green were two down for 25 after ten over’s, Marsy hit a six into the tree by the graveyard but was run out soon after. Jens top scored with 25 followed by Stephen 22 , while the last wicket pair of Matt and Richard put on 19 together to collect the only bonus point of the afternoon. Unfortunately the score of 110 was never likely to be a match winning total.
The Stebbing opening batsmen set about the modest target in a way that suggested they wanted to get home to see the 20/20 World Cup Final on Television, as fours and sixes were soon flying to all parts of the ground. Colin picked up the only wicket to fall but the game was over by five minutes to five.
