Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Won by 97 runs

Match report The 2nd XI finished the season in style with a convincing win over North Springfield Wanderers by 97 runs.

Skipper Ally Hammond won the toss and elected to bat first. The Green got off to an explosive start with Paul Marston taking advantage of some wayward bowling to hit a succession of boundaries including two huge sixes into the trees. Paul and Richard Polley put on 114 for the first wicket before Paul was bowled for a brilliant 68. Nathan Taylor was bowled for 9 before skipper Ally joined Richard for the second major partnership of the innings, Richard eventually out for 72 while Ally became the third half centurion with 58. Jack Smith 10, Neil Brinded 11 not out and Stephen Nunn 7 not out saw the Green to the teams highest total of the season of 278 – 5.

DJM and Jack Smith opened the bowling and kept Springfield to 30 off the first 10 overs. DJM picked up two wickets as Springfield tried to up the run rate. All bowlers used bowled well as Springfield never seriously threatened the target. The other wickets were shared between Matt Norris (2) Richard Polley (2) and one each for Jack Smith and Richard Nunn.
