Felixtowe Corinthians v Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Academy XI on Sat 18 Jul 2009 at 13:00
Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Lost by 6 wickets

Match report
Defeat by 6 wickets at Felixstowe on Saturday continued the Academy XI disappointing run. Put in on a difficult wicket, hard underneath but softened on top from rain, runs were difficult to come by, Danny Guy being the exception as he breezed to 32 before holing out. Four successive ducks saw the Green reduced to 76 for 7 in 27 overs. This brought Jack Smith to the wicket and he preceded to produce his best batting performance for the Green, with a mixture of watchful defence and some lusty blows he batted through to the end of the 45 overs for 45 not out with 5 4’s and a 6, putting on 77 with Richard Polley who ended on 43 not out, giving the Green a respectable total of 154.

Good bowling spells from Ali Hammond, Jack Smith and Nipuna agonisingly failed to yield a wicket and Felixstowe put on 92 for the first wicket until Tom Aston made the breakthrough. Despite some fielding lapses the Green took 3 more wickets, the highlights being a catch and a sharp run out by Matt Norris. Felixstowe reached the target with 5 overs to spare and it was a case of what might have been for Green.
