The M H Two Counties team were royally entertained by Eight Ash Green in a thrilling Drawn game that had everyone on tenterhooks right until the final ball. Batting First Two Counties made 213 for 6 on a very hot afternoon With young Suman Polepaka starring with a well struck 60, Suman a young Frinton third teamer was brought into the team to offset their rival youth element and having only played cricket for 3 years he looks an exciting prospect. Phil Tomkins opened with his usual dash and had amassed an excellent 47 with the score on 79 for 4. From then on young Polepaka took over , he was helped by the wily Simon Sargeant 46 in a stand of 107. Simon gave the youngster plenty of help and the young man will have learned a lot from this experience. The declaration came on 213 for 6. Joe young was the main wicket taker for the home side with 2-38, but he had good support from Keith Steel, Colin Steel, Bevin Guthrie , Matt Murray and John Stonehouse.

Eight Ash Green were obviously going to make every attempt to gain a victory but were pegged back early on by some good bowling by Bruce Tompkins and that man Suman Polepaka and newcomer Andy Norburn from Bury. Richard Polley kept things on the move with a well made 49 while Will Spicer, Tim Chambers and Joe Young all got into double figures. Bevin Guthrie undefeated on 51 and Adrian Sampson 32 threatened to gain a home win but in a nail biting finale a drawn game was achieved but only up to the last delivery. Ken Greenaway 2-26 and Sumen Polepaka 3-15 both bowling well when the chips were down whilst a stunning catch by skipper Pat Patel all added to the drama of the last few overs. A superb game enjoyed by all, who said drawn games are boring!!!.

Eight Ash Greens hospitality all day was outstanding and its little wonder that this game figures highly on the two counties calendar.
