Match report Oh dear! Not many positives to be taken from this match I'm afraid - an 8 wicket defeat was arrived at not long after 430pm after we were thoroughly outplayed.
93 all out is hardly a total that was defendable and highlights, to be honest, were few and far between. Ollie looked quite good for 28 before losing an entertaining battle with Springfield's young quick bowler Pothen, while Stephen hit an unbeaten 16, but coming in at 10 he was never likely to be able to extend his recent good batting form to the extent that we could set a challenging target. For Springfield, the Ashurst's picked up 5 wickets between them, with youngster Ted coming out on top with 3 of them, whilst left arm spinner Southwell finished with quite respectable figures of 4 wickets for 3 runs; oh dear again!
In reply, Springfield won with the loss of only 2 wickets. JP was rewarded for an excellent spell with the wicket of one of the openers, while Ollie benefitted from that rare occasion of a batsman walking - well played Mr Blundell, but it was all done with more than 20 overs in hand.
Ah well, there's always next week and at least Matt turned up in time to pull a pint or two and get his name in the match report.
