Match report Out-batted, out-bowled and out-fielded, the Green slumped to a heavy defeat in Felixstowe against the league leaders; it's not that we performed particularly badly, just that Felixstowe & Corinthians were better than us in all departments.
F&C unsurprisingly chose to bat after winning the toss and made the most of it as the openers hit 116 & 58, setting the platform for an imposing total of 272-7. Sam Pace was once again our star bowler, picking up 4 wickets, but the F&C batsmen expertly found gaps in the field to keep the scoreboard ticking over. They even managed to accelerate in the final phase despite the pitch appearing to become progressively lower and slower.
It certainly seemed like a different pitch when we batted, as no-one bar Jamie Murray managed to score at the required rate and his efforts were cut short after reaching 29. Credit must go to the F&C bowlers who constantly put the ball in the right areas, while their fielders were razor sharp in denying our batsmen scoring chances. Only an improbable last wicket stand from Joe & Matt saw us to an extra batting point and denied F&C the full 20, but that was hardly a consolation on what was a disappointing day for the Green.
