Elmstead II v Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Two Counties 1st XI (Saturday) on Sat 30 Jun 2018 at 13:00
Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Won by 7 wickets

Match report Another imperious batting display from Stuart Hammond saw the Green end their away-day blues with a 7 wicket and 19 point win at Elmstead.
Stuart ended unbeaten on 110 and led the side home as he so simply but effectively managed the home bowling attack, caressing the ball into gaps in the field, while playing shots that many of us could only dream of playing; well, that certainly applies to me but maybe not Matt Parker. Anyway, back to Stuart; he shared an opening stand of 116 with Porky, who shows his own batting class and mixes it with a large portion of oomph (and no James, that's not something you can eat); he fell for 64 which then enabled Jamie Murray to have a quick bat before having to dash off for work. At least, that was the theory; what we actually saw was a wonderfully entertaining cameo that provided the mid-innings impetus to power us to victory. Jamie's timing was a delight as he smashed his 22 balls to all parts, only to fall one run short of a deserved half century - he may not have upstaged Stuart, but Jamie made a damned fine attempt to do so. I suppose that it's only right that I should mention that Ollie came in soon after, following a rare failure for skipper Keith, and managed the small matter of 35 runs fewer than Jamie from the same number of balls!
As for the Elmstead innings, Oli toiled manfully through 15 overs in considerable heat and produced one of his best spells of bowling this season, although only being rewarded with a couple of wickets. Stephen provided excellent support from the other end, after being brought on early as Matt continued with his record of never having taken a wicket at Vicarage Meadow; at least on this occasion no batter came close to planting one of Matt's balls into the Parker front garden. The 4th wicket partnership produced 119 but was perhaps a little pedestrian and meant that Elmstead didn't set a more challenging target. A late flurry of wickets helped with the bonus points for the Green as Joe picked up a brace of his own and Keith went one better with three in two overs; don't forget that you are on a hat trick next time you bowl, skipper.
A couple of cold ones afterwards ended another enjoyable day.
