CWCCC v Eight Ash Green Cricket Club PieRates XI on Wed 13 Jul 2016 at 18:00
Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Won by 9 Wickets
Match report
Ahoy there! The PIErates achieved their first away win this season against Chappel & Wakes Colne who were yet to lose a game this season with 5 wins out of 5.
The toss was lost of course by the Craptain Parker but surprisingly was asked to bowl on what was a bowlers dream. Nick’s replacement Richard Nunn opened up with the normal pace and skill as the man he was replacing. Token posh boy behind the stumps Jamie Murray clearly out chatted the batsmen (or was flirting we can’t tell nowadays) so much that the batsman felt obliged to edge the ball into his posh gloves where he poshly appealed and got the posh wicket….. posh! Down the other end Craptin Matt cba’d to bowl and instead handed the reigns to big boy Charlie Lovejoy who bowled well picking up the wicket of their danger man H. Dow, with a great sweaty sun cream catch form Ollie Stovell much to the jubilation of his Dad whom he informed he was feeling good out there and was on for a 100.
Charlie and Rich bowled well and set up the stage for spinners f off Alex Hammond and Tony Muralitharan Lee to come on to bowl. Alex of course bowling his customary full tosses, obviously learnt that from his DNA Network team-full of tossers…… Tony Lee down the other end after just returning from the ICC bowling analysis facility in Portugal. Both bowled well with the batsmen struggling with the variation of chucker Lee and sucker Hammond. Tony’s variations and use of the pitch picking him up 3 wickets, one of which well caught by token migrant Jens Wair after deflecting off his chest into his which left a red ring the club homosexual could be proud off.
Alex too picked up wickets how I can’t remember but Rich came on in the last over and got hit for 6 who could forget that?
Anyway with 15 extras the green had to chase 135 in 15 eight ball overs and PC Porky and Son of Barry Steve to open the batting. James got off the mark quicker than him fiddling his expenses and stormed to a 50 off 25 balls, Steve meanwhile down the other end clipping singles and just keeping James on strike. It was really the James Parker show as he scored a 100 off of 56 balls making the opposition go into the bushes to find the balls, much like Matt Norris’ trip to France!
A solid batting display from James saw the PIErates through and pies and drinks were enjoyed overall, due to James’ century the club are awaiting some Essex tickets which he can sell to buy a proper helmet big enough for his head.
Thanks to all who watched and we look forward to seeing everyone at the Pool Comp!
