Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Won by 8 Wickets

Match report A well balanced crew of youth and experience comprehensively beat a weakened Real Oddies side on Sunday. Oddies were all out for 85 which would have been much worse but for 33 extras including new fewer than 26 wides. Ali M-L was the pick of the bowlers again with in-swinging Yorkers but Charlie L worried the openers and others mopped up the lower order. Best dismissal was by Matt Wadling who had Tennent caught brilliantly by his dad – Andy Wadling – in the gulley. The latter was a revelation all game.

The score was overtaken in just 19 overs thanks to a powerful 54 not out from Charlie Lovejoy which included nine 4s. He was rightly awarded Pirate of the Week (sponsored by Fun & Games) but was overshadowed by Pete Pearson from Oddies and Alex Hammond from the 1sts who still looked more like a pirate than he did (see photos).
