Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Lost By 72 Runs

Match report The Under 15s were well beaten by a strong Colchester side on Friday.

Colchester Captain Mike Wrathell was the man of the match as he struck a very aggressive 77 in very quick time, as Colchester raced to a total of 148 - 4 off their 20 overs. Wrathell was eventually dismissed by Green debutant Matthew Johnson, who bowled well to take two wickets while Nathan and Jake shared the other two wickets.

Chasing 149 was always going to be a huge challenge, and that was not helped by the loss of 3 early wickets. Richard & Peter tried to rebuild the innings but the all round Colchester attack was too strong for the Green. Jake and Ollie Lovejoy batted well later in the innings, but the result was clear long before the end of the match.

Defeat by 72 runs is 'fairly comprehensive' but Colchester are a very good side at the age group, and the boys should not be too disappointed as the team spirit remains high.
