Match report
The Green won the toss and put Boxted into bat first.Steely and Giorgio bowled tightly in the opening overs, limiting the Boxted scoring opportunities and Giorgio got the breakthrough in the 6th over. After this both Steely and Giorgio struck again in quick succession dismissing the top 3 batsmen.
Boxted’s middle order steadied their innings and after losing a further 2 wickets with the total at 88 to Tom Aston and Steely, their men at the crease created a 100 run partnership to bring up a more flattering score line. Monday’s hero Matt Norris claimed Boxted’s top scorer for 70 and two run outs followed as the bowlers increased the pressure by restricting boundaries. This left Boxted 8 wickets down and the Green chasing 233 after tea.

The Green’s innings did not start as planned with Will dismissed LBW after just two balls. This paved the way for Wayne Hill to come in at number 3 and partner Luke Keeble (20), scoring 63 runs between them at a very quick rate. When Luke was bowled, Richard Polley joined Wayne and they enjoyed a partnership of 137 which effectively sealed the win for the Green. Wayne was in commanding form and was very severe on any bowling off line and completed a fine century. He was still there when the Green went passed Boxted’s total with 7 overs to spare and 7 wickets in hand, 128 not out off 121 balls with 1 x 6 and 20 4’s, scoring 21 of the 70 boundaries in the match - A real match winning innings.
