Match report Another great performance for the zone 1 team. Jamie again won the toss and asked Witham to bat first. A tight opening spell by Charlie and Dan set the tone with Dan getting the prize wicket of Witham's best player. All the bowlers then bowled well to apply pressure which contributed to a number of suicidal run outs, the highlight being Sam's direct hit from the deep. Witham finished on a total of 201 with Jamie claiming 5 for 9.
EAG's priority was not to lose wickets and Dan and Dom P made a fine start. Dom D and Will hit some fine shots as did Sam and Jamie in establishing a winning position from which Charlie and George hit well to finish the game with a flourish.
On the whole another fine evening for EAG youth. The behaviour and attitude was excellent fullfilling the Chairman's wishes.
Another spin off was the announcement after the game that Brian Doherty was coming out of retirement to help the stiffs out on Saturday! Could this be the start of a senior recruitment drive!!!
