Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Won By 17 Runs

Match report The U14s maintained their good form this season in a friendly match with Harwich, winning by 17 runs.

Batting first the Green made 91 for 4. Joe Massetti top scored with 18 sharing a good opening stand with Peter Bartholemew who made 14. Other good contributions were made by Josh (9 no) Matt D (8 no) and Owen (7 Ret).

The Green's opening bowler's made an another good start to the Harwich innings, giving little away in the first for overs and thereafter Harwich were always behind the run rate, although opposition captain Elliott Attrill made an impressive 37 including 7 fours. The Green's wickets were shared between Richard (4) Matt P (2) and Isaac, Matt D, Sam and Joe with one each. Harwich were bowled out for 74 off the last ball of the 20th over.

Well done to Nathan and Jake who turned out for Harwich due to them only having 9 players.

Coaches Comments! Although 'only' a friendly this was a GREAT game that could have gone either way. Unlike other teams who seem to enjoy smashing weaker opposition to bits, EAG balanced things up niceley and made sure everyone in both sides had a good game - well done skipper. Really good practice for those who don't get a regular bat and need to work on keeping the score moving. Well done too to Josh Matthews for getting the catch that gave Richard his hat-trick! RP
