Frinton v Eight Ash Green Cricket Club U14 on Tue 20 Jul 2010 at 6.00pm
Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Lost By 39 Runs
Match report
The previously unbeaten U14s were brought down to earth with a bang, when they were comprehensively beaten by a Frinton team that were bottom of the league before this match.
The match started well for the Green with Richard winning the toss and electing to bowl first,Josh Chapman continued his fine form this season by taking 3 early wickets to leave Frinton at 10-3 in the 3rd over. Unfortunately this proved to be the high point of the evening for the Green as the Frinton pair of Duffey and Pearce put on 79 for the 4th wicket to change the course of the match. Matt Dunlop eventually broke the partnership with his first delivery when he boowled Pearce. Duffey remained unbeaten at the close making an excellent 52 and Frinton closed on 117 - 6, with Isaac taking 2 wickets with the last 2 deliveries of the innings.
The Green's reply got off to a bad start when Nathan was out in the first over when he edged the pacy Morrison to the keeper and the innings never recovered from this early blow as the first 3 Frinton bowlers bowled fast and accurately. All the batsman found scoring difficult and wickets started to fall regularly, Richard was slightly unlucky when run out by a direct throw from the boundary. Sam and James put on 21 together for the 5th wicket but the Green never seriously challenged the target, the 2 Josh's, Chapman and Matthew made the score a bit more respectable at the end and the innings closed on 78.
After the game, the end of season awards were presented to the following boys:
Best Bowler - Josh Chapman
Best Batsman - Nathan Scarff
Best Performance - Richard Nunn
Player of the Year - Issac Chapman
Despite tonights result it has been a very successful season and the boys deserve great credit for winning the league with some outstanding displays in the field, however tonight's game underlined where work is needed before next season.
