Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Won By 76 Runs

Match report The 2nd XI were the only Green Team to escape the weather this weekend when they maintained their promotion challenge with a 76 run win over North Springfield on Bank Holiday Monday.

Batting first the Green's openers Neil and Nippy found scoring difficult against NSW's excellent opening bowler Freddie Clark, however they both did a good job for the team in 'seeing off' the opening bowlers. The middle order built on the good work of the openers, Chris in particular was in excellent form making 91 including several sixes, Will and Stephen provided good support making 27 and 19 respectively. The late arriving Tom made 23 not out batting at 9 which saw the the Green to a useful total of 209 for 9.

After tea a good opening spell by Alistair and Jack removed 3 early batsmen including the dangerous Freddie Clark, and for the rest of the innings NSW were always behind the required run rate. The Green's change bowlers kept up the pressure and wickets fell at regular intervals, only Henry Clark made a significant score, with a classy 55 before he fell to a superb diving catch by Matt Norris late in the innings. Matt Murray took the wicket of one of the tail enders before a farcical run out saw the innings close on 133.
