Having opted to field first, the Academy XI made early inroads into the Mersea batting, however they recovered from 96 for 5 thanks to Luke Conway who blasted a 21 ball 50 survivng two very difficult chances that were spilled in the deep, the 6th wicket partnership took them to 183. The last 5 Mersea wickets fell for just 9 runs as Jack Smith ripped through the tail taking 5 – 38, Richard Polley finished with 4 wickets.

In the Greens reply both openers went early, Tom Aston batted impressively as wickets fell at the other end and no one except for Jack stayed for any length of time. In an innings of five ducks which included a Conway hat trick Tom finished with 62 not out as the Green fell short by 85 runs.
