*GREENPIECE*- BYE BEV! 155 FOR JP & OUR QUIZ NIGHT RETURNS

29 Aug 2018

2’s Win at Witham

A superb knock from Jonathan Purser on Saturday saw him again reach triple figures! If it wasn’t for JP’s innings the Green would have only mustered 91 runs for their 40 overs. Thankfully the Colchester Brewery Man of the Match casually hit sixteen 4’s & six 6’s on his way to the highest score of the season. Not to be outdone, Troy Collins picked up the match ball with 5 wickets off his 10 overs for only 42 runs! The 2’s play their last home game this Saturday against West Mersea.

1’s One Wicket Loss V Woodbridge

With only 175 on the board the Green were not expecting to bring back the game versus Woodbridge on Saturday. However, the game was in the balance so much that if one catch had gone to the hands the match would’ve ended in a draw. A slow start for the Green with regular wicket intervals did not help us set a solid score. Thanks must go to Oli Firmin & Matt Norris for some aggressive batting at the end. With only 175 on the board the bowlers had to bowl tightly. Steve Nunn & Sam Pace bowled economically the latter picking up 3 wickets. The game came down the the 43rd over sadly with one wicket in hand the Woodbridge number 10 scored the winning runs. The Green now travel to the luxurious St Margarets on Saturday.

PLATINUM QUIZ NIGHT

The quiz night takes place on the 8th of September it will be a £2 entry for the quiz but the prize is 100% worth it! Goodbye our favourite Kiwi!

Sadly our overseas oldie Bevin Guthrie returned to New Zealand on Sunday after a very enjoyable 3 month stint playing for our 2’s, Sunday 1’s & Two Counties over 60’s! It is fitting that like the club he also celebrated his 70th birthday here. He will be greatly missed and we would love to see him up the club again in the future! Bev also left a lovely message to everyone at the club which can be found on our photos page. We hope you look after your Duke’s ball and the only Green hat a Kiwi is allowed to wear Bev!
