*GREENPIECE*- CRUCIAL GAME THIS SATURDAY + YOUTH REPORT!

30 May 2018

Excellent display from the 1’s & Youth Report!

1’s Halt Halstead

With a crucial game coming this Saturday vs league leader’s Stowmarket a 20-point victory vs Halstead was perfect for the Green. The Green batted first at Halstead with Porky & A. Hammond scoring 109 both, on any other day they would receive the Man of the Match award. However, with 7 of the 10 wickets the Colchester Brewery Man of the Match went to Alistair Woodcock with figures of 7 wickets for 61 runs off 13 overs. A great performance with the crucial game vs Stowmarket this Saturday at home, any support would be appreciated!

2’s Rained Off

Unfortunately without our covers arriving yet the square was unplayable and the game vs Boxted was called off. They travel up the road on Saturday to locals Chappel & Wakes Colne.

Sunday Cricket Begins

The joy of Cricket on a Sunday commences this week as the NECL 1’s go to Gt Totham. We look forward to see how the team does this year in Div 2.

Youth Update

Our youth season is well under way now with U15, U13, U11 and Kwik Cricket teams all in action in the past ten days.

Our Kwik Cricketers have started well with multiple festival wins for both our beginners and intermediate teams. We host our own festival at the Green on Friday 15 June and we’d love to see as many players and members as possible come and cheer our teams on. Meanwhile, our U11 team were unlucky to lose to Boxted, whilst our U13 team recorded an excellent win against Braintree win Connor Murphy scoring an unbeaten half century. Our U15 team have toiled away but lost to Harwich and Kelvedon in their first two matches, a 50 from Tom Lee against Kelvedon being a highlight.

Women Lose To Copford

Unfortunately 25+ runs from Chris Cunningham & Debbie Green were not enough to secure the lady’s first win last Friday, Louise Gaskin picked up the only wicket for the Green. They do not have a game this week and can enjoy their Friday nights!

World Cup table football competition

We’re running a World Cup themed table football competition at the clubhouse on Saturday 23rd June starting at 8pm. Free to take part, with a prize for the winner, please enter by registering  a team (2 or 3 players) with Sam Collins or reply to this email.
